The Brigadier's Runaway Bride is a nice entry in the Dukes of War series

The Brigadier's Runaway Bride The Brigadier's Runaway Bride by Erica Ridley
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

This story just misses four stars because I felt it was more of a story to complete others in this series, rather than a stand-alone.
This historical romance is the fifth in the Dukes of War series. The heroine has been left pregnant by her soldier fiance. She decides to wait no longer and will marry his friend, the duke, to give her child a name. Her soldier fiance turns up just in the nick of time and saves her from her marriage of convenience. I liked that this romance did not end with the marriage, but continued in order to tell the story of true love.
I am looking forward to the jilted duke's story. I received an ARC from the author in return for an honest review.

What to Do with a Duke is a fun historical romance

What to Do with a Duke What to Do with a Duke by Sally MacKenzie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked this historical romance a lot. It is the first in the Spinster House series.
I love the idea of a Spinster House. I think historical purists might object to the idea, allowing an on-the-shelf spinster to set up her own establishment, in the middle of town, with public approval. But the idea is fun, and Sally MacKenzie tells this story well.
And the idea of a curse, that the hero believes in, no matter how odd, is also fun.
I have enjoyed Sally MacKenzie's book, beginning with the Naked Duke, and look forward to more in her new series. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

The Rebel, a good finale to the Millionaire Malone series

The Rebel The Rebel by Victoria Purman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book number 3 in the Millionaire Malone series is good. I liked it a lot. The hero, Cooper, is third Malone brother. He is a surfer and he and heroine and single mom Maggie have a past. No, not that kind of past, but a past of being best friends for a lot of years.
Cooper loves Maggie's son as much as he loves her. As a professional athlete, dealing with a career-ending injury, he takes a while to realize how much Maggie and her son mean to him. But he does figure it out. Good for him.
I got a complementary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I look forward to more romances by this author.

The Billionaire's Temptation, book 1 in the Amalfi Night Billionaires

The Billionaire's Temptation The Billionaire's Temptation by Katherine Garbera
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The is book 1 in the Amalfi Night Billionaires. The hero, Rocco is a winning race car driver who is looking for what is next. Steffi is his billionaire brother's assistant.
Rocco "liked the man he was when he was with her." That is why I read romance. Aah.
And Steffi, in spite of herself, honestly listens to him, and believes him. Sigh.
I got a complimentary copy from Net Galley in return for an honest review. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

Montana Hero, Big Sky Mavericks, book 4

Montana Hero Montana Hero by Debra Salonen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 4 in Debra Salonen's Big Sky Mavericks series, set in the Montana Born world of Marietta, Montana. Our hero Flynn is the brother of Ryker, the hero in Montana Darling. He relocates to Montana in the aftermath of a wildfire where he couldn't save a victim. Our heroine Kat has come to Montana, as the place her mother had been happiest. They both end up working for the Search and Rescue team based in Marietta. I liked this short contemporary western romance.
The characters are believable and thought it was interesting, and exhausting, to see how a single mom dealt with, quite well I thought, with a son with Asperger's. Fortunately she found time to fall in love with our hero, Flynn, and Flynn, bless his heart, shows her she can be scared but doesn't have to be alone. I love Flynn.
I particularly liked that Flynn's wildfire hotshot friends are relocating as well, and we therefore have more stories to follow. I got this complimentary copy from NetGalley and look forward to more in this series.

Goodreads Review: One Night with the Bad Boy

One Night with the Bad Boy One Night with the Bad Boy by Eve Gaddy
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is book number 4 in the Whiskey River series. I liked it, just felt like it was too abrupt an ending.
The hero has just found out he has two additional brothers. They are required by the terms of the will to live on a ranch and learn to work together. Our heroine works at the family business, so our hero Xander Blue gets to work with our heroine Bailey.
I felt like Bailey blamed Xander for her ex's fault. It is a short sweet contemporary romance, and I did like it, I guess I just wanted a little more story, which is why I only gave it three stars.
I am enjoying the two Kelly Brothers, as well as the two Blue brothers, getting their Happy-ever-afters. I got a complementary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Charming Whispering Bay is back and better than ever.

That Man of Mine That Man of Mine by Maria Geraci
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

This small town romance is four and a half stars. That Man of Mine is the third book in the Whispering Bay series, and each is better than the last.
Fascinating romance between two people who have been married longer than they have lived apart, and are drifting apart. Can't really call it second chance romance, but honestly, had me wondering if they would make it. I love the world building, the inter-connected families and history between the characters.
You have to read this just for the night of the armadillos. Just perfect! Even the fact that they still had some issues you felt like, OK, they can make it. Thank goodness!
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review. And I look forward to reading the rest of the Whispering Bay series.

Whispering Bay is a charming small town I want to get to know.

That Thing You Do That Thing You Do by Maria Geraci
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This contemporary romance is the first in the author's series Whispering Bay. I read the second in the series first and had to back up and read this. I strongly recommend reading in order.
I loved finding out the beginning to the story. That Thing You Do is about high school sweethearts Allie and Tom, long separated when Tom married his first girlfriend, who had gotten pregnant. Now Tom is divorced and Allie, a writer, is in town for a story. Tom has an extremely amicable divorce, which, honestly confused me mightily in the second book, which is about Tom's ex. If I had read this book first I would have been less confused at how friendly this divorced couple is.
I loved that Allie talked nonstop when she got nervous. And Tom got that. I loved that Tom and Allie had "that elusive thing that not only drew two people to one another, but kept them together, as well." And I loved the way the author evoked scents - Jean Nate was Allie's long dead grandma's scent.
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review. And I look forward to reading the rest of the Whispering Bay series.

The Dancer and the Rockstar Drummer in the Belly Dance world

Dance with Me Dance with Me by DeAnna Cameron
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This shorter length contemporary romance is the second in the California Belly Dance series. I liked it a lot. The characters were quite believable, the history of their craft as well as the performance were equally important to both of them.
The heroine Melanie wants to join a belly-dancing troupe but is afraid to fail. The hero Taz is a drummer with the belly-dancing troupe, and one of the judges in the auditions. He offers to help Melanie in return for her help with his interfering sister. I also loved that when Melanie is caught unaware, and is convinced to dance for Taz in a non-audition setting - she absolutely nails it. His music is just as important as her dancing, just love it.
His historical Hollywood moderne house is amazing. I loved that the vintage belly dancing movies of Samial Gamal were a huge part of the story, in fact featuring strongly in their dates.
I received a complimentary copy from Reading Alley in return for an honest review. I want to read the first novella in the California Belly Dance series, and look forward to reading more in this series.

I liked Puppy Love

Puppy Love Puppy Love by Melissa Shaw
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This short story is a stand-alone, contemporary romance. I liked it. The main characters fall in love quite quickly, bonding over the purchase of a dog, even though Melanie is engaged to someone else. I felt that the puppy running away and finding his way home, twice, was perhaps handled too lightly. I know in our house if the dog gets out, it's a major deal until puppy is home. But this story was really sweet, in that the puppy managed to get his new owner Melanie to fall in love with his old owner, Liam.
I received a complimentary copy from the author, and look forward to reading more of her work.

Then He Kissed Me gets four stars

Then He Kissed Me Then He Kissed Me by Maria Geraci
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Then He Kissed me is the second book in the Whispering Bay series. I liked this longer format contemporary romance a lot. The lead couple, Nate and Lauren, had gone to high school together, and meet again after two really awful failed dates at the same restaurant. Lauren is divorced and has an amazingly nice relationship with her ex. I loved that Lauren ran a vintage clothing shop, and designed retro inspired maternity clothes. Fun!
And Nate is the local doctor, whose brusk bedside manner is softened by Lauren's advice, to just give someone five minutes of silence, and they will tell you what is really bugging them. Words to live by, honey.
I received a complimentary copy in return for an honest review. I liked this series well enough that I am going to look up the others in this series.

Four and a Half Stars for The Player Next Door

The Player Next DoorThe Player Next Door by Kathy Lyons
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

I loved this short format romance between a basketball star and the ditzy girl next door. Tori is actually a religion and philosophy professor rehabbing her house. Mike is the basketball star next door, housesitting while he rehabs his shoulder. Mike talks her into a summer fling.
I loved these two characters. Tori is ditzy, ON PURPOSE! Mike is superstitious in a sports star kind of way. Fun fun fun.
I wish it were a series because I want to know more about the wonderful secondary characters. Cole, the teammate who never smiles, I want to know more. I bought this book after reading a sample and getting hooked.

Four stars out of the Amazon TBR freebie pile

Tattoo Thief (Tattoo Thief, #1)Tattoo Thief by Heidi Joy Tretheway
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book one of the Tattoo Thief series. I liked this book a lot. This is a romance between a small town journalist moved to New York, and a rock star. Our heroine, Beryl, has taken a new job which quickly evolves to house sitting for the rock star Gavin.
It is written in the first person, which only becomes awkward when we get the hero's point of view, told from the heroine's voice. Since Beryl is a journalist, it made perfect sense to me that she googled her client, not stalker-ish at all.
But the fascinating hook, if you will, was that the couple didn't meet in person until the book was almost over. They meet, and fell in love, via email and text.
I discovered this book out of my pile of Amazon freebies, after a mention in a book blog I follow, thanks Aestas Book Blog! I look forward to reading more of this series.

Both editions of Mistress of Pleasure are Keepers.

Mistress of Pleasure (School of Gallantry #1)Mistress of Pleasure by Delilah Marvelle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This historical romance is the first book in the School of Gallantry series. It is the second edition. SO of course I had to go get the first edition and compare. I liked the first edition a lot. Would I like the second?
Both are historical romance. The hero is a duke. Our heroine is the daughter of a courtesan. I love that the heroine is kind of straight laced and is slightly embarrased by her grandmother. Very much like having a hippy grandmother now I suppose.
Second edition - I like it as well. It has spicier sex scenes, And a new subplot involving her grandfather, yes the one with the courtesan grandmother. Therefore more backstory. And I am always a fan of that.
But I liked the first one. Not better, just different.
The first edition was as explicit and probably as long as was typical then. The second edition is published by the author, so clearly she wanted these additions. And I love that the author got to finish her story.

Both editions win! I am going to keep both, labeled original and revised.

I got a complimentary copy from NetGalley, in return for an honest review.

My Imaginary Ex is a fun, quick read.

My Imaginary ExMy Imaginary Ex by Mina V. Esguerra
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is one of the three novellas in Perfect Boyfriends: A Chic Manila collection. This is an interesting take on the Friends-to-Lovers theme. It is set in the Philippines. I liked that.
I liked the plot twist. The hero, Zac, had asked Jasmine to pretend to be his ex-girlfriend. And they both had used this bit of pretend history to their advantage throughout several years. Then Zac decides to get married. His real ex-girlfriends recruit his imaginary ex-girlfriend to persuade Zac not to marry. That puts Jasmine in a perfect quandary. What is real?
This is a really cute, fun, short read. I liked it a lot. I received a copy in an online giveaway.

Goodreads Review of The CEO Buys In

The CEO Buys In (Wager of Hearts, #1)The CEO Buys In by Nancy Herkness
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This long format romance is book one in the Wager of Hearts series. I like the premise of the series. Three members of the exclusive club have recently been dumped. They each feel that true love is never going to happen to them, and they must bet something priceless to them, that they will find someone to love them for themselves. The first to fall, is Nathan, the CEO.
He falls for the temp, Chloe, who gets promoted to the executive suite during a company wide flu episode. I felt the pacing of this romance was a bit uneven. They fell in love quite quickly, and then it seemed that it took a long time to get to the Happy Ever After.
I think this series has a lot of potential. And I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Summer In New York's His Love is a Keeper.

His Love (Summer in New York, #3)His Love by Jennifer Gracen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This short romance is the third in the Summer in New York series, which directly follows the Christmas in New York series. Jennifer Gracen's novella in the Christmas in New York series All I Want for Christmas, is a story about Sean and Cassandra. His Love is about Gavin McKinnon, Sean's brother. Our heroine is Toni, who rooms for the summer with Gavin's sister Anna.
Yes, this is a summer fling. But what happens when the fling is more? How do you know, for sure?
I loved how the families, both Toni's and Gavin's, get involved. Such fun. Such real life.
I got a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I look forward to the rest of the series, Summer in New York. And I also look forward to more of the McKinnon family from Jennifer Gracen. Gavin's sister Anna need a Happy Ever after.

Three and a half stars for International Bad Boy #1

No Rest for the WickedNo Rest for the Wicked by Katherine Garbera
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Three and a Half Stars for No Rest for the Wicked. It is the first in the loosely connected by theme series International Bad Boys. I liked this book. It was interesting to see what makes a daredevil tick.
The hero, Sebastian has survivor's guilt form a road racing accident that killed his best friend. The heroine, Celeste, has survivor's guilt from a car accident as well, but she deals with it, or not, by becoming a therapist specializing in teenagers.
It was sweet how these two came together, definite meet cute involving his parents. I liked that she immediately decided not to be a therapist for him, she wanted to date him MUCH more.
I received a copy in return for an honest review. I look forward to reading the rest of this International Bad Boys series.

Four stars for Confessions of a Paris Party Girl

Confessions of a Paris Party GirlConfessions of a Paris Party Girl by Vicki Lesage
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in Vicki LeSage's humorous memoir collection "Confessions". I liked this book a lot. I accidentally read the series out of order, and they stand alone quite well.
I loved the compare and contrast of living in Paris from a American in Paris, building a life in Paris.
I liked hearing when her Missouri roots would pop up, even after living in Paris for years. The wedding differences were fun to read. Having to get a new birth certificate, every time a difference French government department needed it, was hilarious.
I received a complimentary copy from the author in return for an honest review. I do look forward to reading more of Vicki's Confessions.

The marine and the klutz

Sleeping with the Boss (Anderson Brothers, #1)Sleeping with the Boss by Marissa Clarke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Anderson Brothers series. The hero, Will is the middle Anderson brother. The heroine, Claire is the temp in the office. Will is the security expert, brought in to find the suspected corporate security risk. Of course our Claire is chief suspect. The fact that she is a klutz and commits "Claire-isms" when she meets will, to the extent she splits her skirt and he gives her his jacket.
I really like these characters, I actually bought the next in the series, and I cannot wait to read about the third Anderson brother. I got this book as a freebie.

The control freak, the artist and the dog

Neighbors with Benefits (Anderson Brothers, #2)Neighbors with Benefits by Marissa Clarke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Anderson Brothers series. The hero, Michael is the oldest Anderson brother. The heroine, Mia is the housesitter from next door, who really dislikes the bedroom noise from our hero's apartment. They actually meet when our artist heroine seats off the fire alarm and simultaneously tries to flood the bathroom. And our control freak Michael is dog sitting, of all things. Michael is so not a dog person, and of course Mia is.
I really like these characters, I liked the first book in this series, and cannot wait to read about the third Anderson brother. I actually bought this book.

To Love A Texas Cowboy Goodreads review

To Love a Texas Cowboy (Wishing, Texas Book 1)To Love a Texas Cowboy by Julie Benson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This sweet contemporary western romance is Wishing, Texas, book 1. I liked it a lot.
The small town of Wishing, Texas has a wishing well and the legend is you must make a wish for someone else. I liked that a lot. The hero Ty is a rancher who is financial guardian for orphaned six-year-old neighbor Ella. Her artist aunt Cassie has to relocate from New York City to look after Ella, and take over the bed-and-breakfast to boot. As her sister was the cook and hotel person, poor Cassie has a steep learning curve. Fortunately neighbor Ty can cook.
I got a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I look forward to reading the rest of this series about four college friends.

Confessions of a Paris Potty Trainer gets four stars

Confessions of a Paris Potty TrainerConfessions of a Paris Potty Trainer by Vicki Lesage
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in Vicki LeSage's humorous memoir collection "Confessions". I liked this book a lot.
I loved the compare and contrast of living in Paris from a American in Paris, married to a Frenchman. Raising a family is always an adventure, I loved seeing the similarities - all babies are " one poop-and-spit-up machine." I was stunned when they moved into a spacious new urban apartment - 53 square meters (570sf) for more than my house payment! Wow! Urban living! "This was livin' large in Paris."
I liked hearing when her Missouri roots would pop up, even after living in Paris for years. Even though she and her husband had been married and together for years, having kids at Christmas found some cultural differences between them. The scene when she wants to leave cookies out for Santa and her husband has NO CLUE! Hilarious!
I received a complimentary copy from the author in return for an honest review. I do look forward to reading more of Vicki's Confessions.

The Sheikh's Reluctant Bride (Green-Eyed Sheikhs #1)

The Sheikh's Reluctant Bride (Green-Eyed Sheikhs Series Book 1)The Sheikh's Reluctant Bride by Yasmin Porter
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a short format romance, the first in the Green-Eyed Sheikhs series. I liked this book. It has a lot of potential.
I was disappointed in the character development. I felt like the middle of the story needed more character development and less action. I wanted to know more about these characters, more back story, more why are they getting together.
I do look forward to reading the rest of the series. I received a complimentary copy in return for an honest review.

The CEO - a lovely and loving romance

The CEOThe CEO by Victoria Purman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a lovely and loving romance, one of Tule Publishing's Holiday Books series, and book number two in the Millionaire Malones, about the three Malone brothers. The first Millionaire Malone was one of the Hot Aussie Nights series. This one is definitely worth of the Hot Aussie Nights title as well.
The oldest Malone brother, Callum, is divorced from our heroine's sister. Our heroine has been in love with Callum since before her sister had married him. She has treated him with disdain, he mentally dubbed her Ava the Terrible. But when they meet again, a year after the divorce, major sparks fly. He decides to see if he can get to her, and he does, but not in the way he expected. And the ick factor of the hero being her sister's ex is handled really well.
I loved the first novella in the Millionaire Malones and I look forward to reading the next, about the third Malone brother. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Goodreads review for His Kiss

His KissHis Kiss by Jolyse Barnett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This short romance is the second in the Summer in New York series, which directly follows the Christmas in New York series. Jolyse Barnett's novella in the Christmas in New York series A Light in the Window, is a story about Jade and Ben. His Kiss is about Jeremy, Jade's brother, who was a secondary character in A Light in the Window.
Both our hero Jeremy, and our heroine, Elizabeth are in the Adirondacks for work, he as a writer, she as a small business owner. Fortunately all Jade's friends, from Christmas in New York, show up for Jade and Ben's wedding and Jeremy and Elizabeth meet, as well as we get to meet all of them again. And it turns out Jeremy's ex is involved with Elizabeth's brother. A lovely small town romance in upstate New York.
I got a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I look forward to the rest of the series, Summer in New York.

His Touch by Patty Blount gets four stars

His TouchHis Touch by Patty Blount
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first in the Summer in New York series, and directly follows the Christmas in New York series. Patty Blount's novella in the Christmas in New York series Goodness and Light, which has a new title--A Match Made at Christmas, is a story about Elana and Lucas. His Touch is about Kara, Elana's sister, who was a fairly important secondary character in A Match Made at Christmas. I am so happy to finally have Kara's story.
Kara is a typically overworked single mom. She meets Reid, several times, always at the most awkward or inauspicious time. She finally decides that someone, her mom in heaven, keeps throwing him underfoot. So she ought to pay attention. Reid falls in love with Kara's daughter almost as quickly as he does Kara. But of course true love cannot go smoothly and Kara's ex shows up and Reid's issues get in the way. Fortunately all Kara's friends, from Christmas in New York, show up and we get to meet all of them again.
I got a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I look forward to the rest of the series, Summer in New York.

Another five stars!!! A Promise of Forever is a Keeper!

A Promise of Forever (Tallgrass, #4)A Promise of Forever by Marilyn Pappano
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Promise of Forever is the fourth Tall Grass Novel. It is a lovely, slow paced romance, solidly rooted in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the small towns of the Tall Grass prairie, with the addition of a fictional Army base. I loved this book - yes wow, two five star reviews in a row, for two totally different kinds of romances.
Our heroine, Avi, is career military, and is home on four week's leave, before going back to the Army in Georgia. Our hero, Ben is a doctor, whose slightly estranged mom is best friends with Avi's parents. Ben and Avi both know she will be leaving after four weeks, and think they can have a fling with no regrets. They fall in love quickly, but both have careers that have been the most important thing, to each. To Avi, "all I ever wanted to be was a soldier." To Ben, his work and his family - sister, nieces and nephews, and mom, are the most important things in his world.
As a Tulsan for most of my life, I can verify that the setting for this romance is very true to life. I loved that the hero, Ben, lived in downtown and walked to baseball games. But for Ben "It wasn't where they went, what they ate, or what they did that made the time together important. It was her." He knew this, in his heart. But his stubborn Okie head just could not force himself to believe it.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review. This romance also has several scenes that foreshadow the next book(s) in the series. I look forward to reading other books in this series, especially Lucy and Joe's story.

Five Stars for Seducing the Baron

Seduced by the Baron (Fairy Tales of New York, #4)Seduced by the Baron by Amy Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This five star read is the fourth book in the Fairy Tales of New York series about four school friends. This is the Cinderella story.

Our heroine, Faith, is looking after her dad and the family pub, and feeling very left out as her three best friends have all found love. "A guy walks into a bar ..." sounds like a song. Our hero walks into the bar, on business, in jeans and a henley, wanting to set up a meet and greet with the owner. Faith turns him down, he persists and she agrees to a taste test. Oh my word, the taste test. He shows up in an expensive suit, and a tie to match his eyes. Oh, that tie. Fanning myself. Hot, hot hot. When he takes it off, and offers it to Faith, as a blindfold for the taste test, just wow!

This series ends with a wow! Thanks for the great series, and I hope they do more Fairy Tales of ... series. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Goodreads review of Taming the Beast

Taming the Beast (The Fairy Tales of New York Book 3)Taming the Beast by Lucy King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book three of the Fairy Tales of New York is based on Beauty and the Beast. The Beast is Zelda from book 2's brother, Seb. The beautiful heroine is Zelda's good friend Mercy. They have crossed paths twice before the story opens.
Mercy decides to force Seb to reconcile with Zelda, and beards the Beast in his lair. That quickly evolves to an affair...
she propositions him - he objects -
"What? No. Yes. Wait What was he agreeing with - or not - again?" Hilarious. Loved it.
Seb thinks he is in control and dear Mercy runs rings around him!
There is one good friend of the Fairy Tales of New York left and I cannot wait to read her story. I got a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Four stars for Tempting the Knight

Tempting the Knight (The Fairy Tales of New York Book 2)Tempting the Knight by Heidi Rice
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second in the Fairy Tales of New York series. To quote the dedication, it is based on a "bad girl supermodel Rapunzel". I liked this short format romance a lot.
Our hero Ty is a buttoned up Legal Aid lawyer that cannot figure out how in the world he got involved with the wild woman supermodel with all the hair and a friend of his sister no less. And Zelda , our princess of course, is a recovering alcoholic who cannot figure out what to do with a superhero. I love a romance where the hero and heroine have no reasons for the relationship to work, but they work at it and figure it out.
I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I got a complimentary copy form NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Fairy Tales of New York, Book One

Pursued by the RoguePursued by the Rogue by Kelly Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book one in the Fairy Tales of New York series. I liked this romance a lot. It is based on the Ugly Duckling fairy tale. It is also a story about second chances.
I loved the hero, Finn. He is a world class musician who has always carried a torch for our ugly duckling Dawn. I thought it heart-warming how he didn't allow Dawn to push him away, in the midst of a huge health crisis. I thought it interesting how both these characters had a detailed bucket list. "Experiencing everything. You and me."
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Three stars for Adele Down's small town romance Lip Service

Lip ServiceLip Service by Adele Downs
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked this short and sweet romance. It is a small town romance, with a ghost. I do not usually do paranormal but this one worked fine.
I did feel like I got shortchanged in the backstory. I felt like it started in the middle of Jack and Legs's romance. I guess it was really more about the ghost's ill-fated romance than getting Jack and Legs together. It did resolve things and I did like that.
I received a complimentary copy in return for an honest review. I will probably pick up more romances by Adele Downs.

Three and a Half stars for One Night with the Tycoon

One Night with the Tycoon (Whiskey River Book 3)One Night with the Tycoon by Katherine Garbera
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Three and a half stars for One Night with the Tycoon. This is the third in the Whisky River series.
I really liked this story. Just missed that last star because the story got a bit fuzzy in the middle. I had to go back and reread a chapter because I couldn't figure out why our heroine was mad at the hero. I felt like the conflict was not explained well enough.
But I loved the characters, love the series. I loved that our heroine Juliette decided to go after a man who never has anything but one-night stands because, in her words, "knowing that he probably only wanted one night made her want more."
I look forward to reading more in this series. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

Four Stars for Bride on the Run

Bride on the Run (Runaway Brides #4)Bride on the Run by Catherine Mann
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the fourth novel in the Runaway Brides series. I liked it a lot.
The hero, Boone, was jilted in an earlier book in this series. He blames our heroine, Valerie, for the very public jilting. Turns out, she has a past, and certainly doesn't need the publicity that being involved with Boone would bring.
I expect there will be more in this series, or a closely related one. I Look forward to reading more in this series. I received a complementary copy from NetGalley, in return for an honest review.

Goodreads review of One Night with the Cowboy.

One Night with the Cowboy (Whiskey River Book 2)One Night with the Cowboy by Eve Gaddy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Whiskey River series. I liked it a lot.
The hero has just found out he has two additional brothers. They are required by the terms of the will to live on a ranch and learn to work together. Our hero, Trey, has set up a cutting-horse operation on the family ranch. When a property next door becomes available, he is very interested. Of course the other neighbor, Ariana , a lavender farmer, is interested in the property as well. They have a friendly competition, and in doing so, get to know each other, quite well.

I am looking forward to the two Kelly Brothers, as well as the two Blue brothers, getting their Happy-ever-afters. I got a complementary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Happy Release Day to the Summer on Main Street

The Promise of Paradise (Hometown Heroes, #0.5)The Promise of Paradise by Allie Boniface
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a re-issue of Lost in Paradise, and the prequel of the Hometown Heroes series, as well as one of the stories in the boxed set of Summer On Main Street.
I liked this full-length novel a lot. The hero, Eddie, is a small town guy, doesn't know why anyone would want to live in a city. Our heroine, Ash, is a city girl, who really takes to small town life. She falls completely in love with the boy next door. I loved it. "They'd become all the little puzzle pieces that made up a love, and a life."
I received a complimentary copy from the author in return for an honest review. I look forward to reading the rest of the boxed set, and also the rest of the Hometown Heroes series.

After Paradise is the novella that follows The Promise of Paradise. I liked this a lot as well, the story of Jen, a small town girl, back home briefly before she returns to Boston, and the guy she knew in high school, Max. Jen is trying to be nice to Max, and keeps trying to get him a date. There are several characters, Finn especially, that I hope get their own story later in the series. Looking forward to the entire series!

Four stars for The Taming of the Bachelor

The Taming of the Bachelor (Taming of the Sheenans Book 4)The Taming of the Bachelor by Jane Porter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 4 in Jane Porter's Taming of the Sheenans series, also one of the Montana Born novels set in Marietta, Montana. I liked this book a lot.
I loved that the hero, Dillon, went ahead with his plans to start a new job in another state. I loved that Dillon, thought of Paige as he drove home. He thought of her as home. I loved that our heroine Paige, went to visit him, and didn't beg him to come back with her. I loved the ending.
I had to go back and read the previous ones in the Taming of the Sheenans series, to refresh the stories in my mind. I love the Sheenan brothers. I look forward to the last Sheenan brother's story as well. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

5 stars for Petite Confessions: A Humorous Memoirette

Petite Confessions: A Humorous MemoirettePetite Confessions: A Humorous Memoirette by Vicki Lesage
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this collection of short humorous vignettes of life in the city of Paris as told by a transplanted American. Probably my favorite was when her two-year-old is talking to his American grandma. And Vicki is frantically trying to second guess a two-year-old and simultaneously trying to predict the vagaries of the French language, from a non-native speaker, of course.
Hilarious.
Look forward to reading the rest of her humorous memoirs.
I found this as a freebie on Amazon.

Three and a Half Stars for Two Nights with His Bride

Two Nights With His Bride (Montana Born Brides, #6)Two Nights With His Bride by Kat Latham
My rating: 3 (and a half) of 5 stars

This is Montana Born Brides Book 6. The wedding to which the previous five books have been leading up is between Nancy, a soap star, and Jared, her leading man and producer. It is set in Marietta, Montana, home of the various Montana Born series. I adore the Montana Born books, have read and liked a lot of them.
I give this one three and a half stars. This one is different, in that the heroine is heavily involved, almost married to Jared, but he is not the hero. Not even close. He is a major jerk, we have seen foreshadowing in the previous books. In this book we see that he is more than that, even abusive. Yes, our hero, Wyatt, is Nancy's long ago neighbor, but she doesn't really recognize him as that until halfway through the book.
I did find all the wedding craziness amusing. I loved how Wyatt totally understood, and forgave, a lot of Nancy's dramatics, particularly her lunatic friends.
I also really like that, although this is the final Montana Born bride novel, it is highly connected with One Night with Her Bachelor, Wyatt's brother Gabriel's story, and Taming the Legend, Wyatt's sister's story. And we have Wyatt's brother Austin's story still to come! Can't wait!
I received a complementary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Happy Release Day Never Refuse A Sheikh!

Never Refuse a SheikhNever Refuse a Sheikh by Jackie Ashenden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third novella in the International Bad Boys series (2015 edition), seventh overall. It also has a brief mention of characters from one of the previous in this series, Never Seduce a Sheikh, also by Jackie Ashenden. I liked this traditional romance a lot.
I loved that the hero and heroine, a sheikh and a princess, were drawn together by loneliness, a "lonely kind of freedom in the desert". I loved that he saw her need to be independent, "a princess should never be helpless". I loved that he need help to be free, to be just himself.
I received a complementary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I look forward to reading more in this series.

A Deal with the Devil

A Deal with the Devil (International Bad Boys Book 6)A Deal with the Devil by Louisa George
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second novella in the International Bad Boys series (2015 edition), sixth overall. I liked this traditional romance a lot.
I liked that the heroine changed her mind about the hero, quite quickly. She had taken a job with his casino in order to write an expose about his fight club. She changes her mind fairly quickly. I thought the fight club grit versus the casino glitz was an interesting contrast.
I received a complementary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review. I look forward to reading more in this series, connected only by theme and not by characters.

Goodreads review of Kiss The Bride

Kiss The Bride (Montana Born Brides, #5)Kiss The Bride by Rachael Johns
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is novella number 5 in the Montana Born Brides series. I like this series a lot and I like the continuity in this series. Some of the characters are recurring and I love that.
I like that the heroine's daughter pushes her into auditioning, and it goes well. I like that the hero instantly recognizes the heroine as the one for him. And I like that the singing goes well because of their attraction, and vice versa.
I liked this novella a lot and look forward to reading the next in the series. I received a complementary copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

A Match for Marcus Cynster

A Match for Marcus Cynster (Cynster, #23)A Match for Marcus Cynster by Stephanie Laurens
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book two of the Cynster Second Generation series, a longer format historical romance set in Scotland. I loved it! Stephanie Laurens is an auto-buy and about the only author I will pay full price to get the book on release day! Also loved that the ebook had the interior artwork! Thanks!
I loved that the heroine Niniver is the lady of the clan. As such she has many suitors, none of whom are anyone she would remotely consider. She expects to go it alone, and plans for that. Marcus, our hero, is her neighbor, and has always suspected she may be the one for him, but hadn't allowed himself to look at her in that light. Until she needs help with those pesky suitors.
I love that Ms Laurens has such strong heroines, to be matched with equally strong heroes. And there is a nice subplot of murder and mayhem that gives us a lively romantic adventure!
Love this and look forward to reading more in this series.
